Tradescantias like to be watered once the top 1-2 inches of their soil has dried out, usually about every other week. They don't like to be overwatered, so when in doubt, skip the water until next week! If your house is very dry, you might need to water more often, so keep an eye on your plant for the first few weeks while it settles into it's new home!
These plants like lots of bright indirect light (think 2-3 feet from a sunny window.) If your plant isn't getting enough light it'll get "leggy" with more vine between the leaves. Some people aren't a fan of this since your plant can start to look a little straggly. If this happens move your plant closer to the light!
The tradescantia family is huge and comes in lots of shapes, sizes, and colors. Most do great as patio plants in the summer!
Tradescantias are mildly poisonous, so make sure to use caution if you live with small humans or furry friends!
